In Great Baddow, a village near Chelmsford in Essex, you will find a thriving business and local community with around 14,000 inhabitants. This website will enable you to keep up to date with recent news and forthcoming events in the village, as well as informing you about the regular events that take place and meeting dates for our clubs, societies and churches. There is also a collection of local information, including churches, library opening times, public transport and useful links, that we hope you will find er... useful and informative.
We also have a wide range of businesses, operating both from commercial premises and villagers' homes. To help you find them all, we maintain an index of businesses, organised by category, with addresses, phone numbers and links to websites where available. Some of our smaller businesses, such as the Vinyl Countdown, have individual webpages within this site to tell you what they do.
Great Baddow has a rich history and one of the highest concentrations of listed buildings in the country. We include a condensed version of the village history here, including historical houses and families, together with some pointers to other available resources if you are trying to trace family ancestors.
To add a dash of colour to the site, there is a gallery of photos provided by local residents, which we are always happy to add to if you'd like to send us copies of your own personal favourites - modern or ancient.
And finally, just in case you can't find what you're looking for, we have a customised Google search of the site to help - it's located just above the "what's on" calendar on the right. .
