I LOVE PHP!
Located by the junction of the High Street, Church Street and Vicarage Lane, St Mary's is one of 3 Anglican churches in Baddow, the other two being St Paul's in Beehive Lane, and the Meadgate Community church. The churches are strongly evangelical in tradition and preach the love of God through, and in Christ, and encourage regular Bible reading and witness through mission and service to the community.
Services at St Mary's are led by one of the ordained priests and a team of lay members. Worship is lively and mixes traditional hymns with modern songs. There is an active music group which plays at services. Regular house groups meet for prayer and Bible study.
More information is available from the St Mary's Church website.
When Meadgate Church was set up, it was intended to be ecumenical (a Church which is welcoming to Christians of all backgrounds). 40 years on this what we still aim to be and do. Part of the Great Baddow Team Ministry, CoE, and reaching out to all with the love and goodness of God.

St Paul's Church
Located at the junction of Beehive Lane and Loftin Way, St Paul's is a family-friendly evangelical church that values children. We enjoy worshipping God together using both modern songs and traditional hymns, learning from the Bible and seeking by the power of the Holy Spirit to live out our faith. Our vision is 'to love Christ and make his love known'
Our services are held as follows:
This church is located adjacent to the library in the High Street with a building originally built in the 19th century, but since extended to provide a light and airy sanctuary in which to worship God. The church is part of the Chelmsford group of URC churches and is one of a pastorate grouping which combines Danbury, Great Baddow, Howe Green URCs and the ecumenical church project of St Saviour's at Springfield.
Worship is in the reformed tradition and both ordained ministers and lay preachers guide worship each week. In September 2006, Jon Sermon was ordained and inducted as minister of Great Baddow URC and 2 other local URC churches at Danbury and Howe Green.
Worship takes place each Sunday at 1045am with Communion monthly unless otherwise stated. A Bible study group meets and there are regular mid week coffee mornings. The church members and friends extend a warm welcome to anyone wishing to join them in Christian fellowship.
The Mass Centre at Gt Baddow has recently been closed and the parishes of Our Lady Immaculate in New London Road, Chelmsford and The Holy Name in Lucas Avenue have been linked.
At The Holy Name, Mass is celebrated at 6pm on Saturday evenings and 10.30am on Sunday mornings. On holy days of obligation, Mass is said at 7.30pm. The Sacrament of Reconciliation is offered before Mass on Saturday evenings.
Parish priest Fr Brian O’Shea’s number is 01245 352898.
The Worldwide Church of God meets each Saturday at 1pm in the United Reformed Church for a study and discussion meeting. Light refreshments are served before the study and discussion meetings commence. After the meeting all are invited to stay for more refreshments and fellowship.
The Christian Growth Center meets each Sunday at 10.00 am in Baddow Hall Junior school, CM2 7QZ. They also run little bunnies toddler group that meets 9.30am on Thursday mornings at URC and women's coffee morning on Tuesdays mornings 10am.
