Details about Buses serving the village.

Important note: This travel information was last updated on 7 January 2011 based on the bus timetables for Central Essex published by various operators on their respective websites. First Buses plan new timetables from various dates in January 2011 including minor changes to peak running times.

Times are given in good faith but no responsibility is accepted for mistakes, delays, or failure of the operating company to provide a service.

Park and Ride

The highly successful Sandon Park and Ride service operates approx every 6 (morning peak) - 10 (off peak) minutes from 7am - 7pm Monday to Saturday excluding public holidays from a site adjacent to the A12 at Sandon Interchange. The frequency varoes according to time of day. The official opening of the second Park and Ride site at Chelmer Valley is planned for April 2011.

Full timetable information

For full timetable details refer to the Essex County Council transport website which provides full details of all services, routes and journey planning.  You may also telephone traveline for public transport information on 0870 608 2 608 (calls are charged at the national rate)

Notes about services

The centre of Great Baddow is served by six regular weekday services from Chelmsford, three of which are local routes, (40, 41, 50) and three others (3, 31, 36) serve other neighbouring towns in South Essex.

All buses to/from Chelmsford stop at either the Blue Lion (services 3, 31, 36, 41) or the Vineyards (40, 50). Buses on service 41 also stop at the Vineyards during Monday - Friday and Saturday off-peak hours.  Commencing 9 January 2011, the 41 service will be revised to operate between Galleywood and the bus station only; a separate service (41A) will operate from the bus station to Chignall estate.

Buses on services 40 and 50 travel to / from Chelmsford via Meadgate Estate ( Maldon Road, Longmead Avenue and Meadgate Avenue, to rejoin Baddow Road at its junction with Meadgate Avenue near the Army and Navy roundabout). Buses on services from the Blue Lion travel to Chelmsford direct along Baddow Road.

From 9 January 2011 services 31, 36, 40, 41 , 50  to town terminate at the bus station; some service 3 services continue to Writtle College/Oxney Green.

Journey time to either the rail or bus station is approximately 12 minutes. Increased time should be allowed at peak periods.

In addition to these regular routes, service 11A runs to Sutton Cemetery on Sundays and service 31A runs infrequently on Mondays - Fridays to Little Baddow with one extended run to Woodham Walter.  On Saturdays service 31A operates via Little Baddow and Woodham Walter to Maldon.

For each service we show the route, the final destination, days of operation, first and last bus times, off peak approximate service times or frequency..

The timetables which follow show the first and last buses for each service along with the typical service frequency during the off-peak period (typically 1000 - 1600). Service times / frequencies may change during peak hours and late evening. Services also vary according to day of the week and we show information separately for Mon - Fri, Saturday and Sunday.
